— personal - thoughts, yearend review — 1 min read
I've never been able to stick to or follow through with resolutions. There's just something about the "expectations" and "MUST DO" feeling about it that hinders me. But I didn't want to be someone who didn't grow or learn from her experience.
So that's how my yearly theme thing started. It's simple. I spend a week or two figuring out what I've done and what I'd like to achieve. Then I come up with a word that encapsulates what that year will be like for me. Sort of manifesting, I suppose.
For example, a few years ago, I chose the word "Boundary". Basically, I learned how to establish, enforce, and communicate my boundaries in a year. I relished the opportunities in which I could exercise those skills, when I would otherwise would have just anticipated with dread.
So for 2021, my word was "Audacious"—to live life boldly. It's helped me reframe my thoughts, make decisions faster and better, and honestly, it's helped me a lot in my relationships.
Here's a list:
I've decided to up my game this year and came up with 4 words: "CONSISTENCY", "RESILIENT", "GENEROUS", and "ELEVATED".
Haven't really figured out how to incorporate each of them on a more granular level, but we'll see. I still have this week to figure it out.
